CHAPTER 15

AUDREY

She’s in his arms, and he’s holding her to his chest as he carries her to the bedroom.

She doesn’t understand how he can be so gentle yet deadly at the same time.

Her body aches, and the one place she needs to be touched goes ignored.

He may have helped her prepare for this, but that doesn’t mean she wants him helping her through her Heat.

Until she sees what he’s done for her.

It must be a primal response, because as soon as they approach the dark wood bedframe and plush mattress, all she wants to do is have him join her in it.

Her nesting blankets, extra linens, and an abundance of pillows surround the mattress, and nothing has ever looked more inviting.

It’s a reminder of everything else he’s done for her since she’s met him.

He brought her lab notes back, provided her with suppressants, nesting blankets, and took care of her cat.

He didn’t have to do any of those things. He could have found her that night and done the unthinkable to her, leaving her broken and traumatized.

But Julian has done the opposite.

He’s provided.

“I’ve got you,” he promises her, his voice rough as he places her on the bed. She can smell his arousal as helps her lie down, and it makes her head swim.

He smells perfect.

“Mine,” she whispers, looking up at him in wonder. “You’re mine.”

He closes his eyes and groans as her hand reaches up to cup his cheek, her fingers trailing down to his lips and tracing the subtle scars there.

“So, you’re finally figuring it out,” he chuckles weakly. “I knew you were a smart girl.”

His gaze is intense, his pupils blown with arousal as he looks down at her. “Audrey—”

She yanks him down by his shirt and presses her lips to his, moaning against his mouth. It catches him by surprise, and he almost tumbles down on top of her, but he holds himself up as he returns the kiss.

He tastes just like before, only richer.

It makes her mind go haywire.

She wants more.

She thrusts up against him, the soaked front of her jeans rubbing against his hard length. The pressure sends a mini shockwave of pleasure through her body and she gasps for air as Julian pulls his mouth away and trails kisses down her neck.

“Fuck,” he groans out against her skin. “Fuck, Audrey, baby, you’re being so good for me…”

She moans, gasping as his lips travel further down and towards her collarbone. Her hand goes back to his hair, tugging at his scalp, and he stills.

She feels him smile against her skin, and she shivers with delight.

“Oh, so you like being my good girl,” he purrs, lifting his head to look at her, smirking. “Despite all your fighting, you actually want to obey me.”

She’s the most turned on she’s ever been in her life and she thrusts against him, whimpering.

He gives her a devilish grin, delighted that he’s discovered her secret praise kink.

“Do you want to be good for me, baby?” he whispers, bringing his lips to her ear.
